Cars with a "hatchback" and "sedan" body
Warning: Due to the design features of the rear suspension, the shock absorbers can only be removed one at a time.
Removal
Working in the luggage compartment, remove the protective cap from the upper end of the shock absorber.
Remove the hex nut from the shock absorber rod and remove the support cups and bushings.
Raise the rear of the car and place it on stands. Loosen the nut on the lower shock absorber mounting bolt.
Using a mounting blade, press on the suspension arm to remove the shock absorber from its socket.
Installation
Install the shock absorber in place. If it is difficult to insert the shock absorber bushing into the suspension arm bracket, press it in using a hammer with a plastic striker.
Align the shock absorber mounting eye with the hole on the suspension arm, insert the mounting bolt and tighten the nut.
Insert the shock absorber with the support cup and bushing into the upper mount socket.
Screw on the shock absorber rod mounting nut and tighten it so that the rod protrusion dimension "A" is equal to 8 mm.
Replace the protective cap.
Cars with a "station wagon" body
Removal
Raise the rear of the vehicle and place it on stands.
Using a hydraulic jack, slightly raise the suspension arm with a support made according to the dimensions shown in the figure.
Loosen the lower shock absorber mounting nut, remove the cups and bushings and remove the lower end of the shock absorber from the suspension arm socket.
Loosen the upper shock absorber mounting nut. Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.
Installation
Install the shock absorber and tighten the upper mount nut.
Install the support cups and bushings in place, install the shock absorber on the suspension arm bracket.
Tighten the shock absorber rod nut until the rod protrusion dimension "A" is equal to 8 mm.
Lower the car.
Cars with a "van" body
Raise the rear of the vehicle and place a hydraulic jack under the rear suspension beam.
Loosen the bolt securing the lower end of the shock absorber, then the bolt securing the upper end and remove the shock absorber.
The shock absorber is installed in the reverse order.
