Removing
Warning! A new bolt must be used to secure the pulley.
1. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the right wheel.
2. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.
3. Loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt. To prevent the crankshaft from turning, it is necessary that the assistant engage any gear and apply the brake. On automatic transmission models, unscrew one of the torque converter mounting bolts and, using a steel rod inserted through the bolt hole, block the drive plate.
1.6L engines
4. Unscrew the pulley mounting bolt and remove the pulley from the crankshaft.
Engines 1.8 and 2.0 l
5. For the crankshaft pulley bolt, turn the crankshaft until the mark on the pulley aligns with the pointer on the cover.
6. Unscrew the bolts securing the auxiliary pulley to the toothed belt pulley and remove the pulley.
Installation
1.6L engines
1. Install the crankshaft pulley. At the same time, align the groove on the pulley with the protrusion on the toothed belt pulley.
2. Fasten the pulley with a bolt. At the same time, secure the crankshaft from turning.
3. Install the auxiliary drive belt.
4. Install the wheel and lower the car.
Engines 1.8 and 2.0 l
5. Check that the crankshaft pulley mark is aligned with the mark on the housing, and install the auxiliary V-belt pulley on the crankshaft. Align the mark on the pulley with the pointer and secure the pulley with bolts.
6. Install the auxiliary drive belt.
7. Install the wheel and lower the car.
