Removal



1.6L engines

1. Remove the upper section of the intake manifold.

2. Remove the high-tension wire caps from the spark plugs.

3. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the engine crankcase ventilation hoses (indicated by arrows) from the left front end of the cylinder head cover.

4. Unscrew the cylinder head cover mounting bolts evenly and gradually.

5. Remove the cylinder head cover and check the condition of the seals and washers under the head mounting bolts.

6. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the crankcase ventilation hoses from the rear of the cylinder head cover (the hose connection points are indicated by arrows).

7. Unscrew the screws and remove the spark plug cover. Remove the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs.

8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the camshaft sensor.

9. Loosen the cylinder head cover screws evenly and gradually.

10. Remove the cylinder head cover and check the condition of the sealing rings in the sockets for the mounting bolts.

Installation



Installation


1. Check that the head cover and cylinder head surface are clean and dry. Install the gasket in the head cover.

2. Install the O-rings into the bolt holes.



3. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the front and rear camshaft bearing caps.

4. Install the cylinder head cover and tighten the bolts. Tighten the bolts from the center in a spiral pattern.

5. Connect the crankcase ventilation hoses and secure them with clamps. Install the high-voltage wires to the spark plugs.

6. Install the upper section of the intake manifold.

Engines 1.8 and 2.0 l

7. The installation of the cylinder head cover is carried out in the same way as for the 1.6 l engine.
