Removal
1. The automatic transmission ECU is located either in the driver's footwell or behind the glove compartment, depending on the model and year.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. To locate the ECU, remove the driver's footwell side trim panel and the lower instrument panel trim panel (Section 11). If the unit is not found, reinstall these panels and remove the glove box assembly (Section 11). The unit is attached to the back of the top edge of the instrument panel.
4. Release the unit from its mountings and pull it out so that the locking tabs of the wiring connector can be pressed out and removed.
Installation
5. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Make sure that the electrical wiring is correctly connected to the connector.
