Note: This sensor is also known as a lambda sensor.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wiring located behind the coolant expansion tank.
3. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands placed under the body frame sidewalls.
4. On models with double overhead camshafts (DOHC), remove the lower engine guard plate as described in Section 11.
5. On models equipped with a Multec injection system, the sensor is screwed into the exhaust manifold. Release the electrical wiring from the sensor to the connector (attached to the radiator cooling fan shroud or behind the coolant expansion tank) from staples; disconnect the wiring before unscrewing the sensor
6. On other models, unscrew the oxygen sensor from the front section of the exhaust system (see illustration). Wearing gloves is recommended as the exhaust system is very hot.
7. Remove the oxygen sensor and wiring, be careful not to burn the wiring on the exhaust system; if the sensor is to be reused, make sure that the O-ring is not lost and that the sensor does not fall.
Installation
8. If a new sensor is installed, its threads will be coated with special grease to prevent it from getting stuck in the exhaust system.
9. If an old sensor is being installed, check that the threads are clean. Coat threads with lithium grease (Opel №90295397).
10. Install in reverse order. Check that there are no leaks from the exhaust system with the engine running.
