Note: When installing, use new gaskets between manifold and cylinder head, and between manifold and exhaust pipe. Exhaust manifolds on double overhead cam models (DOHC) have a tubular shape.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the high voltage wires from the spark plugs, if necessary, mark them so as not to be mixed up during installation.
3. Loosen the clamping screw and disconnect the air filter warm air tube from the shroud on the manifold, if equipped. Unscrew the fastening screws, remove the air heating chamber from the manifold.
4. Working under the manifold, unscrew and remove the four bolts securing the exhaust outlet pipe to the manifold,
5. If available, disconnect the oxygen sensor wiring.
6. Separate the exhaust pipe from the manifold, secure it with a wire or twine. Do not let the front section of the exhaust system hang under its own weight. Remove the gasket.
7. Turn off fixing nuts, remove a collector from a head of the block of cylinders (see illustration). Remove the gasket.
8. It is possible that some manifold struts may loosen from the cylinder head when loosening the manifold mounting nuts. In this case, the struts must be screwed back into the cylinder head.
Installation
9. Install the manifold using a new gasket, tighten the fixing nuts with the tightening torque specified specifications.
10. Connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold using a new gasket, tighten the fastening bolts with a tightening torque regulated specifications.
11. Next, install in reverse order.
