Multec ignition system (except for C18NZ and EZF-h engines) requires only the initial setting of the ignition timing, without its adjustment. This must be done if the ignition distributor was removed or the timing belt was replaced. A tachometer and a stroboscope are needed to check the ignition timing.
Examination
Warm up the engine (lower radiator hose warm).
If necessary, turn off the air conditioner.
Connect the tachometer to the terminals "1" And "15" ignition coils and stroboscope (according to instrument instructions).
Start the engine and leave it to idle.
Light up the crankshaft pulley with a strobe light.
Attention! Observe precautions, tk. rotating pulley and V-belt can cause injury!
The ignition timing is set correctly if the mark on the pulley stops opposite the pointer on the housing.
If the marks do not match, it is necessary to check all the elements of the ignition system, replacing the faulty ones. The 1.4L engine requires the ignition timing to be adjusted.
Adjustment (1.4 and 1.6 liter engines)
Ignition system EZF-h: To adjust, disconnect the coding plug from the computer.
Multec and EZF-i ignition systems: connect contacts A and B in the diagnostic socket.
Loosen the fastening of the clamping strip of the ignition distributor and turn the distributor until the specified value of the ignition moment is reached. Turn in direction A (see fig.) leads to earlier ignition, in direction B - to later.
Fasten the clamping bar.
Briefly increase the speed to 2000 rpm and check the ignition timing. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
Stop the engine.
Multec and EZF-i ignition systems: Disconnect the diagnostic key from the diagnostic socket (or remove jumper).
Ignition system EZF-h: Connect the coding socket to the computer.
