By switching to fuel with a different octane number, the operating parameters of the ignition system can be changed to ensure that the optimum ignition timing is calculated. This does not apply to the 150 hp. C20XE engine, where engine octane rating is automatically matched by the computer.
The ignition timing is adjusted by moving the connector in the engine compartment of the car to a different position. In this way, it is possible, for example, to switch from leaded petrol 98 to unleaded petrol 95 or from unleaded petrol 95 to unleaded petrol 91 and vice versa, while maintaining maximum engine performance in any operating mode.
To change the encoding, open the connector lock and disconnect the connector.
Rotate the connector by 180°, insert into the socket and lock into place. Fix the connector so that the octane rating is visible, which is stamped on the side on which the connector retainer is located. Changing the octane number set at the factory should only be done if you are forced to fill in fuel with a different octane number. Do not use fuel with an octane number lower than the number set by the coding connector for refueling without switching it accordingly. Otherwise, engine damage due to detonation may occur.
