Removal

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Unscrew the three bolts and remove the distributor.
Disconnect the high voltage wires.
Remove the dust cap.

Loosen the two screws securing the distributor runner.
Installation
Tighten the two distributor runner mounting screws.
Install the dust cap.
Connect the high-voltage wires and secure the distributor cap.
Before tightening, lubricate the mounting bolts with sealant, for example, Opel 1510177 (90167347).

1.4 and 1.6 liter engines
Removal
Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the ignition position (before TDC).
Attention! The piston is in the ignition position when, with the distributor cap removed, the contact on the rotor is opposite the cast arrow on the housing.
Loosen the clamping bar mounting nut.
Remove the ignition distributor with the bar from the camshaft housing. Caution! Do not change the piston position (do not turn the crankshaft with the distributor removed).
Installation
Before installing the distributor, check the position of the piston in the 1st cylinder.

Set the distributor runner to the correct position. To do this, turn the runner so that its contact is opposite the cast arrow on the housing.
Install the ignition distributor with the rotor protrusions into the grooves of the camshaft.
Attention! The protrusions and grooves are located eccentrically and can only be combined in one position.
Tighten the clamping plate nut by hand.
If the distributor runner was removed, reinstall it.
Install and secure the distributor cap.
Adjust ignition timing (1.4L engine) or install it again (1.6L engines).
Tighten the clamp bar mounting nut.
