Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
1.4 and 1.6 liter engines

Disconnect connectors A and B from the ignition coil (see fig.). For vehicles with power steering, remove the fluid reservoir and move it to the side together with the hoses. Do not tilt the reservoir.
Check the ignition coil for connection to the "ground". To do this, set the ohmmeter to the largest measurement range ("MOhm") and connect its wires to terminal "15" and "ground" (pos.1 in fig.). The device should show infinity.
Measure the resistance of the primary winding. To do this, connect the ohmmeter wires to terminals "1" and "15" (pos.2 in fig.)The device should show approximately 0.4 Ohm.
Attention! When measuring the resistance of the primary winding, it is necessary to take into account the resistance of the measuring leads and their tips.

Measure the resistance of the secondary winding by connecting the ohmmeter leads to terminals "1" and "4" (pos.3 in Fig.). The device should show approximately 4-7 kOhm.
1.8 and 2.0 liter engines
Disconnect the wires from the ignition coil.
Check the coil for microcracks and replace if necessary.

Measure the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil by connecting the ohmmeter wires to terminals "1" and "15". The device should show approximately 0.3-0.8 Ohm.
Attention! When measuring the resistance of the primary winding, it is necessary to take into account the resistance of the measuring leads and their tips.
Measure the resistance of the secondary winding of the coil by connecting the ohmmeter wires to terminals "1" and "4". The device should show 7.0-8.4 kOhm.
Connect the wires to the ignition coil.
Install the coil cover.
Connect the ground wire to the battery.
Attention! The coil of the electronic ignition system must not be replaced under any circumstances with a coil from a conventional ignition system (with mechanical breaker). Otherwise, the system will fail.
