Disconnect wire "masses" from the battery.
1.4 and 1.6 liter engines
Disconnect connectors A and B from the ignition coil (see fig.). On vehicles with power steering, remove the fluid reservoir and move it to one side along with the hoses. Do not tilt the bowl.
Check ignition coil for connection to "weight". To do this, set the ohmmeter to the largest measuring range ("MOhm") and connect its wires to the terminal "15" And "mass" (pos.1 in fig.). The device should show infinity.
Measure the resistance of the primary winding. To do this, connect the wires of an ohmmeter to the terminals "1" And "15" (pos.2 in fig.). The device should show approximately 0.4 ohms.
Attention! When measuring the resistance of the primary winding, it is necessary to take into account the resistance of the test leads and their tips.
Measure the resistance of the secondary winding by connecting the wires of an ohmmeter to the terminals "1" And "4" (pos.Z in fig.). The device should show approximately 4-7 kOhm.
1.8 and 2.0 liter engines
Disconnect the wires from the ignition coil.
Check the coil for microcracks, replace if necessary.
Measure the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil by connecting the wires of an ohmmeter to the terminals "1" And "15". The device should show approximately 0.3-0.8 ohms.
Attention! When measuring the resistance of the primary winding, it is necessary to take into account the resistance of the test leads and their tips.
Measure the resistance of the secondary winding of the coil by connecting the wires of an ohmmeter to the terminals "1" And "4". The device should show 7.0-8.4 kOhm.
Connect the wires to the ignition coil.
Install the coil cover.
Connect wire "masses" to the battery.
Attention! The coil of the electronic ignition system must never be replaced with a coil from a conventional ignition system (with mechanical interrupter). Otherwise, the system will crash.
