Warning! Before performing the operation, be sure to read the section «Safety measures for the maintenance and repair of the engine management system».
You will need a multimeter to do the job.
Comment. To check the ignition module, you must contact a specialized service center. You can independently check only the voltage supply to the module.
Examination
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the engine trim (see «Decorative overlay of the engine - removal and installation»).
3. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the ignition module (see below).
4. We connect to the conclusions E and F pads of the wiring harness (markings are printed on the block body) multimeter in voltmeter mode. The voltage should be 12 V for two seconds after the ignition is turned on and when the starter is turned on.
If there is no voltage, the fuse Ef6 is faulty, the ECM relay E4 (see «Fuse and relay mounting blocks») or power circuit (see «Checking and repairing electrical circuits»).
Replacement
1. Using the TORX T30 key, unscrew the fastening bolt and remove the resistor.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the ignition module.
3. Using the TORX T30 key, we unscrew the three bolts securing the ignition module.
4. Remove the module along with the tips of the candles.
5. Remove and inspect the rubber insulating washers for damage, if necessary, replace them.
6. Disconnect the spark plug tips from the ignition module and inspect the module and tips for damage and cracks. In case of damage, we replace the defective parts.
7. Install the ignition module in reverse order. Lubricate the tips of high-voltage wires with technical vaseline before installation.
