Checking the level and replacing the transmission oil (Opel Frontera B)

Inspect the gearbox for oil leaks. After unscrewing the filler plug, check the transmission oil level. If the oil is contaminated, replace it.

Warning! When checking the level and changing the transmission oil, the vehicle must be in a horizontal position.

Remove the oil level check plugs and washers.

Check the transmission oil level, which should be near the bottom edge of the threaded oil filler plug hole. If the oil level is low, add the required amount of oil.

Install new washers and tighten the oil level plugs.

Transmission oil change



Remove both drain plugs and drain the transmission oil from the gearbox housing and transfer case into a suitable container.

Install new washers on the plugs and screw the oil drain plugs back into place.



Remove the oil level check plugs and washers. Pour the required amount of required oil through the oil level check plug holes until its level reaches the lower edge of the threaded hole.

Install new washers and tighten the oil level plugs.

Start the engine and let it run until the gearbox oil warms up. Check for oil leaks from the gearbox.
