Note. The following operation includes two procedures:
- Filling with gear oil with the engine off after repair work on the gearbox, removal and installation / replacement of the gearbox or drive shafts. After filling the gear oil, check its level with the engine running.
- Checking the transmission oil level with the engine running.
Examination
Note.
- Checking the transmission oil level should be done in conjunction with checking the transmission oil temperature using a scan tool.
- After repair work or after loss of gear oil for any reason, it is necessary to correct its level. Make sure that the recommended gear oil is used to fill the automatic transmission.
1. The following conditions must be met to check the transmission oil level:
- The vehicle must be on a level surface.
- Selector lever in position «R».
- Engine off.
- The diagnostic tool is connected.
- Removed fault codes from the memory of the electronic control system.
2. Remove the transmission filler plug (1).
Note.
- If it is only necessary to check the transmission oil level, follow the procedures from step 13.
- Do not unscrew the level tube (3) to check the transmission oil level. After unscrewing the test hole bolt (5) with seal (4), the oil should start to ooze through the level tube if the level (6) corresponds to the norm and reaches the upper edge of the level tube.
- The level tube is unscrewed only when it is necessary to drain the gear oil from the gearbox (1). In this case, the seal (2) on the level tube must be replaced with a new one.
3. Prefill automatic transmission oil (ATF) when replacing the gearbox or after repair work (engine must be off). Place a drip tray under the gearbox to collect fluid.
4. Raise and secure the vehicle.
5. Unscrew the test bolt (5) from the level tube.
6. Install a new O-ring (4).
7. Lower the car.
8. Add gear oil so that it starts to flow out through the level tube.
9. Raise the car.
10. Install the level check bolt and tighten to 8 Nm.
11. Lower the car.
12. Add another 0.4 liters of ATF gear oil to the gearbox.
13. Check and correct the transmission oil level with the engine running.
Note. To correctly check the transmission oil level with the engine running, it is necessary that the temperature of the transmission oil be 70-80°C.
14. Start the engine and leave to run until the test is completed.
15. Pressing the brake pedal, move the selector lever from the position «R» V «D» and back to «R». Leave the selector lever in each position for at least two seconds. Repeat the process twice.
16. Check the transmission oil temperature with a scan tool.
17. Raise the car and unscrew the hole bolt to check the level.
18. Let the transmission fluid drain so that its trickle dries up to drops. If the liquid does not flow out, add some of it to the required level.
19. Fit the leveling hole bolt with a new O-ring and tighten to 8 Nm.
20. Lower the car.
21. Add 0.4 liters of ATF gear oil to the gearbox.
22. Turn off the engine.
23. Install the transmission filler plug with a new O-ring and tighten to 40 Nm.
