V-belt tensioning mechanism (Opel Frontera B)

Examination



Check the operation of the automatic belt tensioner.

Turn the V-belt tensioner counterclockwise using the hexagonal boss (1), then release the tensioner, which should slowly move to its original position.

Removal



Remove the accessory drive V-belt from the engine pulleys (see the relevant chapter).

Remove the accessory drive V-belt from the engine pulleys (see the relevant chapter).


Remove the bolts (1 and 2) and remove the automatic V-belt tensioner.

Mark the position and remove the vibration damper (3) from the automatic V-belt tensioner.

Warning! The vibration damper must only be stored in a vertical position, otherwise the working fluid may leak out.

Installation



Install the vibration damper onto the automatic V-belt tensioner and secure with the bolt, tightening it to a torque of 23 Nm.

Install the automatic V-belt tensioner onto the bracket and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 42 Nm.

Install the V-belt (see the relevant chapter).
