Note: This describes the removal and installation of the left and right radiator fan motors for vehicles with 2.2L petrol engines (X 22 SE and Y 22 SE). Both radiator fan motors can be removed and installed separately.
Removal
Remove the lower engine compartment protection.
Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
Disconnect the upper hose from the radiator.
Disconnect the fan connector from the front engine compartment wiring harness.

Remove the fan shroud assembly from the radiator.
Remove the fan from the fan motor.
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fan motor.
Remove the fan motor from the fan shroud.
Installation
Install the fan motor onto the fan shroud
Connect the wiring harness connector to the fan motor.
Install the fan onto the fan motor.
Install the fan shroud assembly onto the radiator.
Connect the front engine compartment wire harness connector to the fan.
Connect the top hose to the radiator.
Install the lower engine compartment protection.
Fill the engine cooling system with coolant, bleed the cooling system and check the cooling system for leaks (see the relevant chapter).
