Engine — installation (automatic transmission remained on the car) (Opel Ascona C)

1. Lower the engine on hoists into the engine compartment and install it on the gearbox mounting pins.

2. Secure the engine to its mounts.

3. Install and tighten the bolts securing the engine to the transmission housing bell housing.

4. Disconnect the hoists and remove the jack from under the gearbox.

5. Align the white mark on the drive disc with the color mark on the torque converter and screw in new bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque, blocking the starter ring gear to prevent the torque converter from rotating.

b. Replace the torque converter cover.

7. Install and secure the starter.

8. Connect the downshift cable.

9. Perform the operations specified in section 35, paragraphs 17-30.

10. Install the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper (engines 1.6 and 1.8) (see section 35, paragraph 14).

11. Adjust the downshift cable (see chapter 6).
