Models with rear drum brakes
Removing
Place chocks under the front wheels, then raise and secure the rear of the vehicle on stands under the axle.
Remove the brake pads as described above in the appropriate section.
Remove the rear wheel cylinder as described above in the appropriate section.
Using pliers, remove the ring lock securing the handbrake cable to the platter.
Remove the hub assembly as instructed in chapter 10 and remove the platter.
Installation
Install the platter and rear hub assembly (see chapter 10), using new nuts to tighten in three steps as specified in the specification.
Place the handbrake cable on the platter and install the clamp.
Install the rear wheel brake cylinder and brake pads as described earlier in the relevant sections.
Before installing the road wheel and lowering the vehicle to the ground, check and, if necessary, adjust the handbrake as follows.
Bleed the appropriate brake hydraulic circuit as previously indicated.
Models with rear disc brakes
Removing
Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle on stands.
Remove the brake disc.
Remove the hand brake pads.
Remove the rear wheel hub assembly as instructed in chapter 10 and remove the platter.
Installation
Install the platter and hub assembly using new nuts, tighten in stages as required.
Install the hand brake pads as instructed in the previous section.
Install the brake disc.
Before installing the road wheel and lowering the vehicle to the ground, check and, if necessary, adjust the handbrake.
