Warning! The toothed belt must be replaced when the engine is cold.
Removing
1. Set the number one piston to top dead center on the compression stroke. Fix the camshaft and fuel pump pulleys with bolts.
2. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
3. Unscrew bolts and remove the bottom casing of a gear belt together with rubber consolidation.
4. Loosen the timing belt tensioner mounting bolts and disconnect the tensioner spring from the dowel pins.
5. Remove the toothed belt. If the toothed belt is to be reinstalled, note the direction of rotation
6. Check the condition of the toothed belt for wear, splitting or oil contamination. If the belt is contaminated with oil, it is necessary to find the place of oil leakage and eliminate it.
Installation
1. Clean the toothed belt pulleys. Check that the camshaft and fuel pump pulleys are bolted. Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley to the toothed pulley and check that the mark on the pulley aligns with the pointer on the oil pump housing. Also, the mark on the crankshaft pulley must be aligned with the pointer on the oil pump housing (the label is indicated by an arrow).
2. Remove the auxiliary crankshaft pulley and install the toothed belt on the crankshaft pulleys, oil pump, fuel pump, camshaft pulley and check that the rear branch of the belt is taut. Check that the alignment marks of the pulleys are aligned with the pointers.
3. Tension the toothed belt with the tensioner pulley spring.
4. Check that the crankshaft pulley alignment mark is aligned with the pointer, then unscrew the clamp bolts from the fuel pump pulleys and the camshaft pulley.
5. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and turn the crankshaft pulley in the opposite direction by 60° (counterclock-wise).
6. In order to automatically adjust the tension of the toothed belt, fix the crankshaft pulley from turning and tighten the tensioner pulley bolt.
7. Rotate the crankshaft two full turns and check that all timing marks on the pulleys are aligned with the pointer.
8. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and rotate the crankshaft 60°counterclockwise to adjust the toothed belt tension. Secure the crankshaft pulley from turning and tighten the tensioner mounting bolt.
9. Set the engine crankshaft to a position in which the piston of the first cylinder is at top dead center on the compression stroke and check that all the timing marks on the pulleys are aligned with the pointers.
10. Install the toothed belt guards and crankshaft pulley.
