Warning: The following procedure simply reduces the pressure in the fuel system. Be aware that fuel is still in the system components, so take precautions before disconnecting them. be guided Chapter 2.
General description
1. The fuel system consists of a fuel priming pump installed in the tank, a fuel filter, a fuel injector and a pressure regulator in the throttle body. These components are connected using metal pipes and flexible hoses. They all contain fuel that is under pressure when the engine is running and/or the ignition is on.
2. The pressure in the system remains for some time even after the ignition is turned off and must be relieved before disconnecting any component.
3. Remove the fuel pump fuse (number 11) or fuel priming pump relay, and start the engine. Let the engine idle until it stalls. After that, operate the starter 1-2 times to make sure that all pressure is released, then turn off the ignition.
4. Don't forget to install the fuse or relay back.
