1. In addition to checking the main electrical circuits, nothing else from the components of the fuel system can be independently checked.
2. If damage occurs, check all wiring first. Check that the air filter element is not clogged, spark plugs must be in good condition with properly adjusted electrode gaps. Also check that the engine breather hoses are not clogged or damaged and that the throttle cable is properly adjusted. If the engine runs very erratically, check the compression (Section 2), and be aware that one of the hydraulic tappets may be defective, causing incorrect valve clearance.
3. If it is suspected that the malfunction is due to a clogged nozzle, try to clean it.
4. If damage remains, check ignition system components (as far as it's possible).
5. If damage still persists, check all fuses, connectors, and wiring for loose connections, dampness, corrosion, dirt, or other damage.
6. After checking the components of the system, contact your Opel dealer to check the entire system on special equipment.
7. Don't try "check" components, especially the ECU, by improvised means other than test equipment.
