Brake fluid (Opel Vectra A)

When handling brake fluid, please keep the following in mind:

• Brake fluid is poisonous. Never suck it out with your mouth through a hose!
• Brake fluid is aggressive and should not come into contact with painted parts of the body. If this happens, immediately wash the area with plenty of water.
• Brake fluid is hygroscopic, i.e. it absorbs moisture from the air. Therefore, it should only be stored in hermetically sealed containers.
• Used brake fluid must not be refilled into the brake system. When bleeding the system, only use fresh brake fluid.
• The grade of brake fluid used: FMVSS 571, 116 DOT-4 or SAE J 1703.
• Brake fluid should not come into contact with mineral oils. Even a small amount of mineral oil makes the brake fluid unusable, as such fluid leads to failure of the brake system.
• Brake fluid should be replaced once a year, regardless of mileage. It is advisable to replace the fluid after the winter season.
