The brake fluid expansion tank is located in the engine compartment and consists of two chambers, one for each of the brake circuits.
The tank is made of transparent material, which makes it easy to determine the level of liquid in it. About lowering the liquid level below the mark «MIN» the driver is signaled by a control lamp on the instrument panel. But, despite this, it is recommended to regularly check the fluid level in the tank.
The liquid level with the lid closed should not be higher than the mark «MAX» and below the mark «MIN» (see illustration 17.0).
Use SAE J1703 specification DOT-4 brake fluid.
Due to the wear of the brake pads, there may be a slight decrease in the level of brake fluid in the expansion tank. This is normal. However, with a significant drop in the liquid level for a short time, it is urgent to find a leak. In this case, it is recommended to contact the workshop.
