Replacing the differential flange seal (Opel Vivaro A)

Removal



1. Remove the engine sump guard.

2. Drain the oil from the gearbox.

3. Remove the side protective pads of the mudguards, the right front wheel, unscrew the upper bolt 3 securing the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle and loosen the lower bolt 4, remove the ABS sensor (figure 5.30).

4. Remove the intermediate support flange (figure 5.31).

5. Rotate the steering knuckle and disconnect the axle shaft (being careful not to damage the anthers during this operation).

6. Remove the differential flange sealing ring.

7. Tap the seal against the base using a punch and a small hammer until the seal rotates in its seat.

8. When the seal has turned, remove it (figure 5.32). Be careful not to damage the splines of the axle gear.

Installation



9. Install the oil seal using tool B.Vi.1235 (figure 5.33).

11. Install the oil seal, then the sealing ring. Apply MOLYKOTE BR2 grease to the splines.

12. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
