1. Block the front wheels. Jack up the rear of the car, secure it on axle stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. Remove the appropriate drive shaft as described in Chapter 8.
3. Note the installation depth of the oil seal in the final drive housing.
4. Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver (photo). Wipe off the bearing surface of the seal.
5. Lubricate the sealing lug of the new packing. Using a suitable metal tube, insert the stuffing box into the housing to the pre-marked position.
6. Install the drive shaft as described in Chapter 8.
7. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
