Replacing the fuel filter element (Opel Frontera B)

Removal



Using the special tool KM-796-A, disconnect the fuel supply (2) and return (1) hoses from the fuel filter housing, then close the hoses with KM-6015 plugs.

Disconnect the connector from the diesel fuel preheater unit.

Unscrew 2 nuts and remove the clamp (4) securing the fuel filter housing to the bracket.

Remove the fuel filter housing (3) from the bracket.

Unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the housing (7) from the housing cover (3) of the fuel filter.

Fuel filter: 1 - central bolt; 2 - central bolt gasket; 3 - fuel filter cover; 4 - Fuel filter cover gasket; 5 - fuel filter element; 6 - spring; 7 - fuel filter housing.


Remove the replacement filter element (5) from the fuel filter housing and place it in a suitable container.



Drain the used fuel from the fuel filter housing into a suitable container.

Using a clean cloth, thoroughly clean the inside surface of the fuel filter cover and housing.

Installation



Insert the replacement filter element into the fuel filter housing and fill the housing with fresh diesel fuel.

Assemble the removed parts shown in the figure, replacing all sealing gaskets with new ones.

Install the fuel filter housing onto the bracket.

Install the fuel filter housing mounting clamp to the bracket and secure with 2 nuts, tightening them to a torque of 8 N·m.

Remove the KM-6015 plugs from the fuel hoses.

Connect the fuel supply and return hoses to the fuel filter housing

Connect the connector to the diesel fuel preheater unit.

After completing the work, remove air from the fuel system.
