2. Make sure that the carbon brushes can move freely in their guides and are not stuck anywhere.
3. Measure the length of the brushes. If they are worn to the extent that their length is less than the maximum length specified in the Specifications, they should be replaced.
4. Hold the brush wire with pliers and unsolder it from the brush box. Remove two brushes.
5. Insert the new brushes and make sure they can move freely in their guides. If they get stuck, lightly polish them with a fine file.
6. Solder the ends of the brush wires to the box, taking care not to get any solder on the wire itself.
7. When installing new brushes, be sure to also install new springs.
8. Install the brush box back into place by performing the above steps in reverse order.
