2. Start by disconnecting the battery ground cable, then disconnect the solenoid and starter wires. Mark exactly how they are located so that you can install them correctly during assembly (see photo 14.2).

3. Loosen and remove the starter assembly mounting bolts and remove the starter from the clutch housing (see photo 14.3). Note that some models have an additional support bracket on the end of the starter where the commutator is located that must be unbolted away from the engine.

4. Install the starter in place by performing the above steps in reverse order.
