2. Start by disconnecting the battery ground wire and then disconnect the solenoid and starter wires. Note exactly how they are located so that you can install them correctly during assembly later (see photo 14.2).

3. Unscrew and remove the mounting bolts of the starter structure and remove the starter from the clutch housing (see photo 14.3). Note that some models have an additional support bracket on the commutator end of the starter that must be unscrewed from the engine.

4. Reinstalling the starter is done by performing the above steps in reverse order.
