1. The starter motor designs that are installed are robust and strong, so it is very unlikely that you will need to disassemble the motor unless it is very worn out and needs to be completely replaced.
2. However, if the motor has only been running for about 2 years and you suspect a problem with the pinion mechanism, solenoid system or brushes, then the motor will have to be removed from the engine and disassembled as described in the following Sections.
