Starter Solenoid — Removal and Installation (Opel Ascona C)

1. The Delco-Remy type solenoid is secured to the pinion housing with two mounting screws. Remove these two screws, remove the locking washers and disconnect the wiring from the motor. Remove the solenoid from the housing.

2. The Bosch type starter/solenoid design is different from the one described above. The solenoid is secured to the end housing with two screws and can be removed by disconnecting the solenoid switch shaft from the active gear carrier arm attached to the end housing.

3. Installing the solenoid back in place is done by performing the above steps in reverse order.
