1. On the front side of the traction relay, unscrew the lock nut and gasket and pull the electrical supply wire out of the clamp on the column (photo).
2. Remove two or three screws that secure the traction relay to the starter motor housing (photo).
3. Get a casing of the switch of the traction relay, a spring and an anchor; disconnect the armature from the gear drive (photo).
4. A defective traction relay is in most cases easier to replace.
5. After repair, assembly is carried out in the reverse order to removal.
