Generator — removal and installation (Opel Ascona C)

1. Disconnect the battery cables.

2. Note the position and purpose of the wires located at the rear of the generator and disconnect the plug or connector, or terminals, depending on what is installed (see photo 8.2).

3. Loosen and remove the generator adjusting lever bolt, mark the position of the ground wire. Loosen the lower support bolt and rotate the generator towards the engine. Remove the belt from the alternator pulley (see photo 8.3 A and B).

4. Remove the lower support bolt, and then disconnect the generator from the engine. Be careful not to drop or hit the generator as this could cause irreparable damage (see photo 8.4).

5. Installation is carried out by performing the above steps in reverse order. Adjust the alternator drive belt tension as described in Chapter 2.
