1. If you suspect that the charging system is not functioning properly, you must take precautions when diagnosing faults, otherwise you may further damage or even completely ruin some parts that, in principle, could still work and function. The following rules must always be strictly observed in order to prevent possible damage.
2. All generator systems are negatively grounded. Even a simple mistake when connecting the battery wires on the contrary can very quickly lead to burnout of the generator diodes.
3. Before disconnecting any wires in the system, be sure to turn off the engine and ignition. This will help minimize the risk of a short circuit in the system.
4. Never start the engine with the generator output wire disconnected (red wire on positive terminal).
5. Always disconnect the battery cables from the vehicle's electrical system when using an external battery charging source.
6. Do not use test connection leads that could move and short circuit nearby terminals. Short circuits can do more than just blow fuses - they can also cause diodes and transistors to burn out.
7. Always disconnect the battery and alternator cables before welding the body using electrical welding equipment.
