Note: This operation will require a torque wrench capable of measuring high torque on the front hub nut threaded connection.
1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on axle stands. Remove the corresponding front wheel. On vehicles with light alloy wheels, remove the disc at the center of the wheel.
2. Lift up the metal cover on the hub, install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground. (Remove the wheel trim, if equipped).
3. Place a wooden block under each wheel and check that the car cannot move in any direction.
4. Using the socket and extension arm, loosen the hub nut a half turn. Note that the nut is very tight and it will take a lot of force to loosen it.
5. Jack up the front of the car and secure it on axle stands. Remove the corresponding wheel.
6. Use a lever to remove the metal caps and unscrew the brake caliper mounting bolts using a socket wrench.
7. Remove the brake caliper and tie it up so that the hydraulic hose is not tight.
8. Turn off the fixing screw and remove a brake disk.
9. Remove the hub nut and separate the hub from the stub axle. If the inner track of the bearing remains on the pivot pin, remove it with an extractor and pick up the oil seal that will be on the hub (photo).
10. Bearings are not replaced separately from the hub, because if the bearings are worn out or the seal is defective, the hub must be replaced as a whole. The new hub has a plastic bushing that clamps the inner bearing route (photo).
11. Place the hub and plastic bushing on the stub axle, then carefully drive the internal bearing runs onto the stub axle using an appropriately sized socket or metal pipe (photo). Remove the plastic bushing.
12. Install the components in the reverse order of removal, noting the following points:
- A) Tighten all nuts and bolts with a tightening torque specified specification.
- b) Coat the threaded connections of the brake disc fixing screw with thread locking fluid and tighten to 4 Nm.
- With) Install the brake caliper as described in Section 9.
