Front suspension crossmember — removal and installation (Opel Omega A)

1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the car and secure it on axle stands.

2. Remove both front lower control arms as described in Chapter 5.

3. In the engine compartment, unscrew the upper clamp bolts of the front anti-roll bar and unfasten the clamps.

4. Remove the nuts securing the engine mount brackets to the crossmember and engine support brackets. Remove the gaskets.

5. Support the weight of the engine using a winch or a stand rod (Figure 10.8). Using a winch, first remove the hood (Section 11).



6. Support the crossbar with a jack and a strong wooden block.

7. Remove the four mounting bolts and lower the crossmember to the ground. Remove the engine mounting brackets.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, but tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified tightening torque Specification.
