If the car was not equipped with air conditioning at the time of purchase (K/V), it can be mounted and installed at any time convenient for the owner - contact the Opel service station.
Control panel for the operation of ventilation and heating systems
A general view of the control panel with an indication of the location of the handles is presented. On the left is the handle of the air temperature regulator and the inclusion of A/C (with appropriate equipment). When the car is equipped with a K / V system, a pictogram in the form of a snowflake is applied to this handle. In the center is a knob for selecting the fan speed and heated rear window. On the right is the handle for switching air supply directions. Below is the switch for the air circulation mode.

The handle of the air temperature regulator and the inclusion of K / V
Turning the knob clockwise increases the temperature of the air entering the passenger compartment. When the handle is pulled out, the A/C turns on and the control lamp built into the handle lights up.
Knob for selecting fan speed and heated rear window
Turning the knob clockwise increases the fan speed and, consequently, the intensity of the air supply to the vehicle interior. Turning the handle to the extreme left position turns off the fan. When the handle is pulled out, the heated rear window is switched on, accompanied by the operation of the control lamp built into the handle.
Turn off the heated rear window as soon as visibility through it is restored.
Air circulation switch
With the extreme right position of this lever, the air circulation mode in the passenger compartment is switched on. When the mode is turned on, the interior of the car is isolated from the atmosphere and the flow of fresh air into it stops. The fan circulates the air inside the cabin. When turning off the circulation mode (the lever is in the leftmost position) the supply of outside air to the passenger compartment will resume.
The handle of switching of the directions of distribution of air
When supplying air to the front level, do not forget to open the deflectors.
The handle is designed to select the air distribution mode in the cabin.
Air supply through the side deflectors of the instrument panel is carried out in all modes.

Outside air is supplied to the windshield through nozzles mounted in the control panel from above near the bottom edge of the glass.
Outside air enters the passenger compartment simultaneously through the windshield blower nozzles mounted in the control panel from above near the lower edge of the glass, and through the lower ventilation openings of the foot wells.
Outside air is supplied only to the driver's and passenger's footwells.
Outside air enters the cabin at the front level through the central and side ventilation deflectors of the instrument panel.
Ventilation grill deflector control
The deflectors of the nozzles of the central air ducts of the instrument panel are equipped with special louvered deflectors that allow you to adjust the deflection of the supplied air flow both in the horizontal and vertical planes. The deflectors are controlled by means of ring handles located on the sides (0 - air supply blocked) and levers built into the nozzle grille.

Instructions for the use of ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems
Below are detailed instructions for the operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in various climatic conditions. The reader is provided with information on how to ensure efficient ventilation, heating and cooling of the air in the car, as well as how to quickly remove condensation and frost from the windows.
All systems under consideration operate only when the engine is running. Engine coolant is used as the working fluid of the heater heat exchanger. If the engine is not warmed up to normal operating temperature, it will take several minutes before warm air is blown into the passenger compartment.
The operation of the air conditioning system is independent of the engine coolant temperature.
In the vast majority of cases, the best performance of systems that provide a comfortable microclimate is achieved in the mode of supplying outside air to the passenger compartment. Long-term activation of the circulation mode, especially when the A/C is not working, leads to fogging of the windows and an increase in the stuffiness of the air, therefore it is recommended to turn on this mode only if necessary and for a relatively short time, for example, when driving through areas with a smoky or polluted atmosphere. As soon as it is no longer necessary to isolate the passenger compartment, the supply of fresh air to the passenger compartment must be resumed.
Outside atmospheric air enters the heating and air conditioning systems through intake grilles located in front of the windshield and equipped with a fairing. Periodically clean the openings of the intake grille from leaves and other debris that obstructs the passage of air.
Vehicle interior ventilation
The supply and exhaust ventilation system provides a constant exchange of air in the car. Fresh outside air enters the passenger compartment through the front intake grille and is then removed through the outlets located in the luggage compartment storage boxes.
- Turn the air temperature control knob counterclockwise as far as it will go. Check that A/V is turned off;
- Set the air direction switch knob to the position. The air circulation mode must be turned off;
- Use the blower speed selector to set the desired air supply to the vehicle interior.
Cooling the air in the car
Cooling mode can only be selected when the engine is running. When the outside temperature is below 4 degrees. the cooling mode is automatically switched off.
Interior cooling is carried out as follows:
- Turn on the air conditioner, - the built-in A/C switch should light up;
- Check that the air temperature regulator knob is turned to the extreme left position;
- Set the air supply direction switch knob to the position;
- At high humidity of the outside air, turn on the circulation mode, at low humidity, turn on the fresh air inflow mode;
- Use the blower speed selector to set the desired airflow rate to the passenger compartment.
If the car has been exposed to the sun for a long time and the air in the cabin has become very hot, you can quickly reduce the temperature in the cabin as follows:
- Start the engine;
- Turn on the air conditioner. Check that the air temperature regulator knob is turned to the extreme left position;
- Using the fan speed selection knob, set the maximum intensity of the air supply to the passenger compartment;
- Partially open the windows and turn the air distribution direction switch knob to the position;
- Turn on the circulation mode, after a while close the windows.
The operation of the K / V system leads to an increase in the load on the car engine, therefore, when driving with frequent stops and at low speed in a busy urban cycle, or overcoming long climbs of considerable steepness, you should carefully monitor the arrow of the coolant temperature gauge (see Section Dashboard). When the pointer approaches the red range of the scale, temporarily turn off the air conditioner until the engine temperature returns to normal.
Car interior heating
In order to raise the temperature of the air in the passenger compartment, perform the following manipulations.
- Start the engine;
- Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. The air circulation mode must be turned off;
- Using the fan speed selection knob, set the required intensity of air supply to the passenger compartment;
- By turning the knob of the air temperature regulator, set the desired degree of air heating.
Interior heating with simultaneous dehumidification with air conditioning
When the air conditioning system is operating, the humidity in the car interior is reduced, which allows, by simultaneously turning on the heating and air conditioning systems, to make the air in the car interior warm and dry.
- Turn on the fan;
- Turn on the air conditioner;
- Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the or position. The air circulation mode must be turned off.
- By turning the knob of the air temperature regulator in one direction or another, set the desired degree of heating of the air entering the passenger compartment. In this mode, cold air from the air conditioner is mixed with warm air from the heater.
The joint inclusion of heating and air conditioning systems can be used in any driving conditions when the ambient temperature is positive.
Removing condensation and frost from windows
You can clean the internal surfaces of the glass from condensed moisture as follows:
- Turn on the fan;
- If the vehicle is equipped with the appropriate equipment, turn on the air conditioner;
- Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. The air circulation mode must be turned off;
- Turn the air temperature control knob to such a position that warm air is supplied through the windshield blower nozzles;
- Turn on the rear window defroster to remove condensed moisture from its surface more quickly. On some versions of the car, if the handle for switching the directions of air distribution is in any position, except for , the A/C remains on. Turn off the air conditioner if necessary.
In order to remove frost or ice from the outer surface of the windshield and side windows, formed after the car was parked on the street in frosty weather, perform the following manipulations:
- Switch on the ignition by turning the key in the lock to position «II»;
- Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. The air circulation mode must be turned off;
- Turn the air temperature control knob to the extreme right position (maximum air heating) and turn on the fan at maximum speed;
- Start the car engine.
To speed up the removal of frost or ice from the windshield in very cold weather, it is recommended to first turn on the air circulation mode. After the windshield is free of frost, resume the fresh air supply to prevent fogging of the windows.
In the windshield blowing mode, all air supplied to the passenger compartment enters through slotted nozzles located on top of the instrument panel at the base of the windshield, as well as through the side ventilation deflectors of the instrument panel. The glass blowing temperature and the glass cleaning speed increase as the engine warms up. To speed up the process of removing condensation, frost or ice from the windshield, you can close the side vents. In this case, all the air will go exclusively to blowing the windshield.
For safety reasons, do not start driving until all windows of the vehicle are clear of condensation and the driver has adequate visibility.
Switching off heating and ventilation systems
To temporarily turn off the heating and ventilation systems, turn the knobs of the fan speed and air temperature controls to their extreme left positions.
The need to turn off the systems occurs in the first few minutes after starting the engine in cold weather, as this ensures that the engine warms up more quickly to a temperature sufficient for efficient operation of the heater. In all other cases, in order to avoid stagnation of air in the cabin, keep the fan constantly on.
