Preparatory operations for engine repair (Opel Vectra C)

1. This Section contains some preparatory operations that are required to be performed when performing various maintenance and engine repairs. As a rule, they are common to all engines described in this Manual. When first reading the manual, you can skip the materials in this Section - refer to them only when you find a corresponding reference in other sections and chapters.

Removal and installation the multi-rib belt cover and engine crankcase protection



2. When performing many operations, in order to gain access to the relevant units, it is necessary to remove the multi-rib belt cover on petrol models, and the engine crankcase protection on diesel models.

3. First, you need to jack up and place the car on stands or lift it on a lift.

4. To remove the lid (see illustration) unscrew the 4 bolts of the multi-rib belt.

Note: In some cases it may be necessary to remove the right front wheel.


5. To remove the crankcase protection (see illustration) turn out 10 (on models equipped with a 1.9 l engine - 17) mounting bolts and remove it.

6. The crankcase protection may have a service cover designed to provide access to the drain plug on the crankcase for draining engine oil - if necessary, unscrew 4-5 mounting bolts (depending on the model) and remove the lid.

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
