In terms of maintaining engine longevity, you will do the right thing if you follow Opel's instructions for the first time of operation. During the first 1000 km, the maximum speed should not exceed 4000 rpm. The basic rule for all gears; press the gas pedal to a maximum of three quarters.
During break-in, the engine feels best on country roads. They drive at different speeds and you can shift gears diligently. There will be no obstacles to movement even if the speed limit recommended at the beginning is observed. From 1500 km, you can safely raise the engine speed once. Autobahn slopes are especially suitable for this: downhill at relatively high engine speeds, without loading it too much. Although the engine must be well warmed up for this, because. and later accelerate it only when the operating temperature has been reached.
While the engine is run-in as it should, at least 3000 km will pass. With predominantly urban traffic, this continues, of course, much longer.
Tip: What has been said about a new engine is all the more true for an engine that has undergone a major overhaul, which, as practice shows, reacts even more painfully to improper break-in.
