Crankshaft pulley — removal and installation (Opel Vectra B)

Warning: Only use a new bolt to secure the crankshaft pulley.

Removal

1. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the right front wheel.

2. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.

3. Loosen the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt. To prevent the crankshaft from rotating on manual transmission models, have an assistant engage any gear and apply the brake. On automatic transmission models, remove one of the torque converter mounting bolts and use a steel rod to secure the drive plate to the transmission housing.

4. Loosen the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt and remove the pulley. Be careful not to damage the crankshaft sensor.

Installation

1. Install the crankshaft pulley (indicated by the arrow) and secure it with a new bolt (indicated by the arrow).

2. Secure the crankshaft from turning using the same method used to loosen the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.



3. Tighten the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt in three stages.
