Top dead center (TDC) piston is the point through which each piston passes as the crankshaft rotates. Each piston reaches TDC at the end of the compression stroke, then again at the end of the exhaust stroke. In order to install the engine's state distribution mechanism, the TDC of the piston of the first cylinder is used.
1. Check that the ignition is off. Remove the high voltage wires from the spark plugs, then unscrew the spark plugs.
2. To access the timing mark on the camshaft pulley, remove the upper timing belt cover.
3. Turn the engine with a wrench by the crankshaft pulley until the alignment mark on the camshaft pulley aligns with the pointer located on the rear toothed belt casing.
4. In this case, the mark on the crankshaft pulley (A) must match pointer (IN) on the lower timing belt cover.
