Removal



1. The camshaft can only be removed after the camshaft housing has been removed from the engine. Since the camshaft housing is attached with cylinder head mounting bolts, the cylinder head must be removed.

2. After removing the camshaft housing, unscrew the mounting bolt from the block and remove the block from the end of the housing.

4. Measure the camshaft clearance. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the camshaft thrust plate.

Examination



1. Check the condition of the bearings in the camshaft housing. Check that the oil supply holes to the camshaft are not clogged.

2. Check the camshaft journals and cams for wear.

3. Check the camshaft thrust plate for wear and grooves and replace if necessary.

Installation



1. Remove the old camshaft and camshaft housing sealing ring. Install the new sealing ring with the working lips facing inward so that the end surface of the sealing ring is flush with the end surface of the camshaft housing.

2. Lubricate the camshaft, camshaft housing bearings and oil seal lips with fresh engine oil.

3. Carefully install the camshaft into the camshaft housing.

4. Install the camshaft thrust plate and secure it with bolts. Check the camshaft axial clearance.

5. Install a new O-ring into the groove of the end cover. Install the cover to the camshaft housing and secure with bolts.

6. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
