Removal
1. Remove the camshaft housing.
2. Remove the axial pressure shoe levers.
3. Remove the axial pressure shoe.
4. Remove the hydraulic lifters and place them all in a suitable container so that they will fit into place when installed.
Examination
1. Check the working surfaces of the bearing, tappet, valve, which operate in contact with the camshaft cams.
2. If the hydraulic tappets are defective, they must be replaced as they cannot be tested.
Installation
1. Lubricate the hydraulic tappets and the seats in the cylinder head with clean engine oil. Install the hydraulic tappets in their places.
2. Install the thrust pads onto the tops of the corresponding valves.
3. Lubricate the levers with clean engine oil and install them in their places. Then install the camshaft housing.
