Removing
Manual Transmission
Warning! Only new bolts must be used to mount the flywheel.
1. Remove the gearbox. Remove the clutches from the flywheel.
2. Secure the flywheel against turning by placing a lock on the flywheel ring gear. Put alignment marks on the flywheel and crankshaft.
3. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the flywheel.
Automatic transmission
4. Remove the gearbox and drive plate, noting that there is a retaining plate installed between the mounting bolts and the drive plate.
Examination
1. On models with a manual transmission, check the flywheel for wear on the clutch side and the condition of the ring gear teeth.
2. On models with automatic transmission, check the condition of the torque converter drive and ring gear.
Installation
Manual Transmission
1. Clean mating surfaces of flywheel and crankshaft.
2. Install the flywheel in accordance with the marks previously applied and tighten the mounting bolts.
3. Secure the flywheel from turning.
4. Finally tighten the flywheel bolts.
5. Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to the required angle.
6. Install the clutch and gearbox.
Automatic transmission
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the drive plate and crankshaft.
8. Coat the threads of the drive plate mounting bolts with an anti-loose agent, install the drive plate in accordance with the marks made earlier, and screw in the mounting bolts.
9. Install the gearbox.
