Removal
Manual transmission
Warning: Only new bolts must be used to secure the flywheel.
1. Remove the gearbox. Remove the clutch from the flywheel.
2. Secure the flywheel from turning by installing a locking pin on the flywheel ring gear. Apply alignment marks to the flywheel and crankshaft.
3. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the flywheel.
Automatic transmission
4. Remove the gearbox and drive plate, noting that there is a retainer plate installed between the mounting bolts and the drive plate.
Examination
1. On models with a manual transmission, check the flywheel for wear on the clutch side and the condition of the ring gear teeth.
2. On models with automatic transmission, check the condition of the torque converter drive and ring gear.
Installation
Manual transmission
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the flywheel and crankshaft.
2. Install the flywheel in accordance with the previously applied marks and tighten the mounting bolts.

3. Secure the flywheel from turning.

4. Finally tighten the flywheel mounting bolts.

5. Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to the required angle.
6. Install the clutch and gearbox.
Automatic transmission
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the drive plate and crankshaft.
8. Apply a product to the threads of the drive plate mounting bolts that prevents the bolts from loosening, install the drive plate in accordance with the previously made marks and tighten the mounting bolts.
9. Install the gearbox.
