HEI module (models 14 NV)



Removal



1. The module is mounted on a metal plate on the left side of the engine compartment below the ignition coil.

2. Remove the ignition coil as described in Chapter 16, and pull the coil out of the clamp.

3. The module can be removed with the mounting plate by unscrewing the two mounting screws.

4. Before installing the module, apply heat-conducting paste to the mounting plate to improve heat transfer. If you are installing a new module, this paste should be included in the kit.

Installation



5. Perform installation in reverse order.

MSTS-i module (1.6 and 1.8 liter models)

7. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

8. If necessary to improve access, remove the air block from the carburetor.

9. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the module.



10. Unscrew the two fastening nuts and remove the module from the partition.

Installation



11. Perform installation in reverse order.

Motronic module



Removal



12. The module is installed in the driver's footwell, behind the side trim panel.
