Note: On 1.6L and 1.8L models the control unit consists of two components: the main control unit and the program memory unit. Both components can be replaced separately if a fault is found in one of them, but the source of the fault can only be identified using specialist equipment available from Vauxhall/Opel service technicians. On 1.4L engines the two components are inseparable, so if a fault is found the whole unit must be replaced.
Removal
The control unit is located on the right behind the trim panel of the right footwell/door sill.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the door footwell/sill trim panel as directed chapter 11.
If necessary, remove the two nuts and pull the plug bracket out of the footwell to provide access to remove the control unit.

[Article published on the website: www.opelbook.ru]

Locate the control unit in the footwell.
After removing the mount, lower the bracket and disconnect the plug connector from the control unit (see fig. 4.74).

Remove the control unit from the bracket, noting its location.
On 1.6 and 1.8 L engines, the program storage device can be disconnected from the control unit printed circuit board after removing the cover from the back of the unit. It is secured with two screws (see fig. 4.75).

Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
