Leaks in the cooling system and the operation of the safety valve can be checked using a special pressure gauge.
Insert the pressure gauge fitting into the expansion tank's fluid fill hole. Using a hand pump, pressurize the system to 1 bar. If the pressure drops, you should find leaks and eliminate the latter. These places are identified visually by fluid leaks.
If system pressure drops without coolant leaking, this may be due to internal engine problems such as a defective cylinder head gasket or a cracked engine case.
To check the safety valve of the radiator cap, connect the manometer pipe to it and apply pressure with a hand pump. At a pressure of 1.2-1.35 bar, the valve should open.
