Attention! The coolant is poisonous. It must not be poured anywhere or mixed with household waste.
Drain
Set the interior heater knobs to maximum heat.
Open the cover of the expansion tank.
Attention! If the engine is hot, a thick rag should be placed on the cover before removing the cover to prevent burns from hot coolant or its vapors. The cover should only be removed when the coolant temperature is below 90°C.
Loosen the lower radiator hose clamp. Remove the hose and completely drain the coolant.
Fill
Attention! Since the cooling system radiator and heater core are made of aluminum, only DOT-4 compliant coolant should be used.
Connect the lower hose to the radiator and secure it with a clamp.
1.4 and 1.6 liter engines
Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor and unscrew the sensor.
Pour coolant into the expansion tank until it comes out of the sensor hole.
Screw in sensor and tighten to 10 Nm. Connect connector.
Pour coolant into the expansion tank up to the inscription "KALT".
Screw in the expansion tank screw plug as far as it will go.
Start the engine and increase the speed to about 3000 rpm (until the thermostat opens). The lower radiator hose then becomes warm.
Check the cooling system for leaks.
Stop the engine and wait until it cools down.
Check coolant level, top up if necessary.
