Diesel injection device malfunctions (Opel Ascona C)

Before searching for a fault in the table, you need to make sure that the engine starting equipment is correct, there is fuel in the tank, the engine must be mechanically sound, the battery is charged, and the starter is in good working order.

Caution! Before removing the fuel lines, they must be cleaned.

The engine does not start. It starts poorly.The engine is not warmed up.Check the preheating device.
No voltage is supplied to the electromagnetic switchTurn on the ignition, the signal diodes should flash. Otherwise, check the integrity of the wiring and fix the problem.
The fastening is loose or faultyCheck the switch mount. Turn the ignition on and off several times - the switch should work. At the same time, clicking sounds can be heard.
The fuel supply system is faulty.Check the fuel supply,
a) Fuel lines are cracked, dirty, cloggedClean up
b) The fuel filter is clogged.Replace
c) The ventilation does not work. The fuel is contaminatedClean the tank filter
The fuel supply is out of adjustment.Check and adjust the valve timing.
The injectors are faultyCheck the injectors, unscrew the union nuts in order and check whether the cylinders are working.
The injection pump is faultyInstall new
High fuel consumptionThe air filter is dirty. Leaks in the fuel supply systemReplace. Check the tightness and condition of the fuel injection and return lines, the fuel filter and the injection pump.
The fuel return line to the tank is clogged.Blow air through the fuel return line from the injection pump.

The engine does not reach maximum speed.Check and adjust the maximum speed
The air filter is dirty.Clean, replace
The fuel filter is clogged.Replace
Air in the fuel systemLet the air out.
The fuel lines are faulty.Check the fuel lines: intake, return supply, injection, tank ventilation. The fuel lines are dirty. Clogged with ice or wax (only in winter). Injection pipes are pinched at the joints (at least 2mm diameter should be) or bent. The injection pipes are not connected in the order of cylinder firing. The tank filter is clogged.
