2. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the fastening of the end of the cable from the handle side.
3. Working from inside the vehicle, pull the hood release handle and its holder structure sharply back to disconnect the holder protrusion from the slot in the body (see photo 7.3).

4. Pull the cable structure through the cap in the engine compartment and into the interior of the engine compartment.
5. Install the new cable by following the steps described for removing the old one in reverse order, then adjust the cable so that it does not slack by changing the position of the cable attachment at the clamp on the upper slide.
6. The cable should open the hood when lightly applied to the control handle. If not, check the installation of the latch fork as described in previous Section.
7. Apply some lubricant to the skid and latch fork.
