1. Tachometer (revolution counter) and exhaust gas analyzer (CO meter) required for fine adjustment.
2. The adjustment must be made with the air filter installed, the throttle cable properly adjusted, and the engine at normal operating temperature. Check that the adjustment screw does not affect the fast idle cam; on models equipped with automatic transmission, set the selector lever to «R».
3. Connect a tachometer and an exhaust gas analyzer to the engine according to the manufacturers instructions. Start the engine, set the idle speed.
4. Look at the idle speed value on the tachometer and compare it with the value given in Specifications. If adjustment is necessary, turn the idle speed adjustment screw as required (photo).
5. Check the CO content, compare with the data in Specifications. If required, remove the plug and turn the idle adjustment screw as required.
6. If necessary, repeat the procedure given in point 4.
7. Turn off the engine, disconnect the exhaust gas analyzer and tachometer.
