1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the filler cap and pump out all the fuel.
3. Block the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on axle stands. Disconnect the wiring from the fuel level sensor.
4. If the sensor includes supply and return hoses, mark them, loosen the clamps and disconnect.
5. Where the metal ring is installed, use two screwdrivers to turn it counterclockwise. Where the bolts are installed, unscrew them. Remove the metal ring and sensor.
6. Remove the O-ring or gasket.
7. Clean the contact surfaces of the sensor and the fuel tank.
8. Where available, apply some multipurpose grease to a new O-ring and place it in the sensor groove.
9. Install the sensor in the tank with the suction tube down. Use a new gasket.
10. Where a ring is used, tighten it fully clockwise.
11. Where bolts are used, apply locking agent to the threads, insert and tighten them in a diagonal sequence.
12. Install hoses and wiring, connect negative battery cable. Lower the car to the ground.
13. Fill the tank with fuel, install the filler cap.
